Build Log · Newest first

What I've built. What broke.

I document every session in three lines: what I built, what broke, and the one thing worth passing on.

Day 14 · Sat 7 Nov 2026

This site, grown from one page to four

Built
Home, About, Build Log and a working contact form, on the same free hosting as Day 1.
Broke
My own headline. I wrote "15 years selling big deals", read it back and hated it.
Lesson
If a line makes you wince, you won't say it out loud either. Rewrite it before you build around it.
Day 8 · Sun 1 Nov 2026

A family dashboard on a Raspberry Pi

Built
A small computer behind the TV that shows our family calendar and the week's dinners, changed from my phone.
Broke
The install script quietly stopped halfway, and the month view was unreadable from across the room.
Lesson
It looked fine on the laptop. It took the real TV to see what was wrong. Ship it, stand back, fix what you actually see.
Day 7 · Sat 31 Oct 2026

An inbox triage agent for my day job

Built
An agent that reads my work inbox, read-only, and tells me what actually needs action today.
Broke
It could only see 25 emails at a time, contradicted itself on deadlines and guessed at things it didn't know.
Lesson
Most of its mistakes were missing context, not a weak model. Give it the least access it needs.
Day 1 · Sun 25 Oct 2026

My first web page

Built
One page, from a blank folder to live on the internet before breakfast.
Broke
The webcam, the screen recording and the GitHub sign-in, all before a line of the page existed.
Lesson
Day 1 is the day something goes live. Prep doesn't count.
